Tom van Kessel made his debut at the age of 11 in the feature film Knetter (2005), where he played one of the leading roles alongside Carice van Houten and Daan Schuurmans. The film achieved national and international success. Since then, he has appeared in various productions such as Confetti Harvest (2014), which was selected for the International Film Festival Berlin and received outstanding reviews from The Hollywood Reporter.

Upon graduating from acting school in 2017, Tom landed various roles in major productions like De Fractie (2016), Ghost Corp (2017) and Zomer in Zeeland (2018). He gained further recognition through his portrayal of JJ Smit in 255 episodes of the popular TV show Spangas (2020-2023) and as Fabian de Leeuw in over 75 episodes of the Videoland series Nieuwe Tijden (2016-2018).
More recently, Tom portrayed the young Andre Hazes Jr. in the music video Een Doodgewone Man which has garnered over 1 million views. He also starred alongside a range of international actors in the Polish-German European war movie Filip (2023) globally released on Netflix in early 2024, and in Expeditie Cupido (2024), soon to be available worldwide on Amazon Prime.
